Personal Background
I live with my family of five in Zurich Oberstrass. We have lived several years in each of California, Canada, and Switzerland. In each of these three states, one of our kids was born.
I grew up in the small, idyllic village of Duernten in the Zurich highlands (Zuercher Oberland), pictured on top and below.
I am a #FirstGen university graduate. This means that none of my ancestors had a university degree. #FirstGen academics are underrepresented amongst university faculty, especially in economics. If you are an ambitious #FirstGen student thinking of a Ph.D. or a similarly demanding career, be aware that many things you don't even know that you don't know.
